Kinesio Taping What is it?

Kinesio Taping: what is it?

It is a non-invasive technique which consists of applying an elastic cotton tape with an adhesive on the skin, capable of stimulating the neuro-muscular activity, favoring the body's self-healing process.

Therefore applied directly on the skin, in the part above the musculature, depending on the position and the tension exercised, it acts mechanically, not inhibiting any movement, but limiting only the part of the traumatized muscle.

Furthermore, the taping patch by lifting the skin promotes lymphatic drainage and the consequent protection of tendons and ligaments allowing the correct position of the joints.

 Different colour of Kinesio taping,

The patches used in kinesio taping are aesthetically very beautiful to look at and can be of different colors, specifically the three most common colors are red, blue and and beige.

To each color, according to the chromotherapy, a different result is closely related therefore:

  • the red or pink bandage can be used to heal a cramp caused by a contracture;
  • the blue or green patch proves useful in limiting inflammatory states;
  • the beige patch works very well when applied to the back.

Kinesio taping: contraindications

In general, it does not present any contraindications.
The application of the patch that seems to be very simple is essential to be applied by an expert so that the desired effect can be achieved.
In addition, the specialist will be able to assess how many patches to apply to the patient where and for how long based on the area to be treated.
Therefore it is strongly advised against the "do it yourself" that would limit or cancel the results.
